this forum is soooooooooo active... i like it....

just today ve finished my site analysis presentation.. it was so boring. dont know y.the lecturers r trying to do something awsome but its becoming so boring... nyways....

this time the project is to do restoration of a building which was a shophouse around 50 yrs before. n have to design a butik hotel there. according to ubbl ( uniformed buildings by law) in restoration one cant remove or destroy the facade and till the structure which is holding the facade. that means i ve to design a shop house into a hotel... such a bad idea.... never mind but that is the challange...
by next monday according to the lecturers we ve to ve thousands n millions of ideas in our head n mind.... i ve no idea about the site n what we can do with the site. the site different facade after every 4 or 5 facade. its in an urban place.it is penang george town.

i ll forward the facade pics later on.... let me know guys. thanx a looooooooooot

Keeping the front facade as it is means just keeping the present image or conserving the structure also?
If you can't change the structure by law... then it will be really difficult to solve every detail of a hotel or resort.
As it seems, if you remove the steel beams according to your design, then it will be impossible to keep the facade as it is.

One idea may solve an important crisis... let keep the images of the front facade in your archive. Start designing as you desire.
When you figure out your design a bit, then overlay the old front facade on it. It's something like painting a new building with old paints on it. How's the idea.

It may not work if your own design goes far beyond the old facad's design.
