hi.
i would like to know about peoples' experiences with seminar courses, the types of ideas and streams of research you may have been exposed to; books, essays, and other publications that are often used at arch schools in dhaka; what you feel you have personally gained from the exposure, and how it has helped you grow as both a student and future practitioner.
thanks.

anyone..?
i'll be teaching a seminar course at BRAC starting next semester. I'd be grateful to know what trains of thought, research, and ideas final year students in Bangladesh are exposed to, and if there are certain things they'd like to improve upon or rather pursue.
thanks.

my seminar subject was "digital revolution in architecture"
here is some glimps about it.
I gathered the data mostly from internet.
specially www.wikipedia.org helped me a lot.

I learned from this a lot, which I did'nt know before.

I almost have forgot what I did in seminar!
It was something against the imposing nationalist attitudes in architecture. I tried to show local examples and explain how intentional nationalist approach to design leads to bad decisions. My point was something like what Kenneth Frampton said in his 'Critical Regionalism' theories. Frampton talked about achieving regional essences in design through critical thoughts of contextualization not just applying some known symbolic forms and materials on stupid designs.
As far I remember my presentation ended with some intense debate of the least necessity of the ploy of making a building 'Bangladeshi'. I said the 'intention' of architecture can never be making a building American or Indian or Bangladeshi, architecture has far more greater things to deal with than the narrow thoughts of national names.
