I am designing a vacation home in Sundarban. I want to know that:

1. I am using wood as building material. The home will be on stilt. So tell me about wood. What kind of tree i have to choose for wood ? Is there any particular tree that is good for make house and also availabe in sundarban?

2. I am trying to give pitched roof. What is the usefulness of pitched roof?

3. We know in winter u get breeze from North-West. But is this breeze is desired to us? cause i think winter breeze is cold and it may not comfortable for us. So should we design on the basis of protect this breeze or we should let them into house?

Is somehow Architect Naila Hasan your teacher? As far as I’m concerned she was going to give a project like this. However, good project.
Let me try to answer your questions

1. As you are doing a class project and not going to buy the wood in real life, so you just have to know the name of the available woods, isn’t it? Keora (Sonneralia aoelala) may be a good choice. Sundari is also available there.
2. When you are not using concrete slab or when you are using material like wood then slopping away of the rain water faster is mandatory. Durability of wooden structure is very much dependent on dryness. Another thing is the dampness cause of the dead foliage of the forest over the roof. So in this situation pitched roof may be a better selection.

3. Remember we have always the option to close our windows, but not have the option to make the wind flow always!
