What you said it may be true in many cases but not every time sir. This practice is more popular in BUET in Bangladesh than any other schools (as far as I have observed). In our school (UAP Dhaka) no seniors ‘do the design’ for their junior kaamla (except Piplu bhai !!!). Of course in our regular gathering we help each other in design by sharing our problems and thoughts. Lets take about me… as now I’m at the edge of 4th year I’m a senior in school. Still I have no ‘baandha kaamla’ (some fixed juniors who are always ready to help in my presentation). Most of the time my kaamlas are seniors! Always seniors helped me to make models etc. And whenever juniors come to show their design related problems to me (I think) I always drive them to bigger whole of problem! I show them thousands of other angles to think more about a project. So the juniors who have the capacity to handle that pressure on brain to think thousands of new issues regarding a project.. only they come next time to me to show their design! |

Oops! I am out of the Kamla-Amla cycle and practically never had a kamla, either "bandha" or "chuta" so I always see this from a negative mind-set. The only good think my "Aamla" - a deadly violent person at that - so kindly provided once was "Hajir Biriyani". I practically learned absolutely nothing from him. Moreover, I had to run away after twelve continuous days-and-nights of extremely hard work with no sleep at all, as I thought I had had enough. My friend, another good-hearted architect, stuck to it, with fever running as high as 104 degrees and still drafting away in a half-sleep-half awake trance, and in the end when everything was done - got kicked out. You are right about BUET, where this corrupt practice is the most flagrant as the students there have a lot of free time to indulge in this immoral practice with a five year course running up to nine years. Students postpone exams and burn up teachers' homes - how wonderful. |

By the way, I think we were actually supposed to talk about someone's thesis. Heck, this is way off line. My sincere apologies

hey . . nafis bhai, i think everyone got carried away with the amla-kamla thing, i'm interested to work with you let me know when and what to do ! sorry but i've share this . . . NEO . . what u said about piplu bhai is just sooooooo true !!! but the same thing goes for a lot more ppl in UAP, when i's in 2-1 and we started getting the real tension fo juries n models, from that time i discovered that all my female classmates are getting readymade models from seniors "bhaias" as well as from some of our classmates n i's the only one running out of breath with all the work load man ! i's soooooo frustrated at that time n i hated them all soooo bad ! but eventually i got to learn that this is the system of UAP!well i'm gonna finish 3-1 now n the trend is still on !! wat i learned is that the easiet way to pass architecture is to get a senior boyfriend or get hold of a boy from your own class . . no offence. . !!! i's just dying to share my opinion with someone and i'm just looking forward to the day when i'll leave UAP |

Cheers to Nafis (atul)... you've got a good kaamla as well. Meema, Not to say like this dear... there are few things which are very good in UAP. You are getting some good things also which is unique in our campus only. try to explore those things.... One more thing... now it's time to make our community global.. at least national. Suppose here Nafis is from Brac University and you are from UAP but if Nafis agrees to take you as a kaamla then it becomes a 'national communication'! Our community is going beyond our school only. Thus develop a global community. Then you won't feel sorrow about our campus. |

i think i would love it if we had this kamla amla thingi in malaysia also. i dont think ny other countries have it. but what i feel is this a good pratice. to work under with somebody. u know when u go to ure practical life in work or job u might get angry on ure boss very easily. n feel like if u could pause him in his possition n hit him. but for me is like this practice can make u understanding from this types of feelings. i miss kamla amla practice here a loooooooooooooooooot. it was too good back to bangladesh......(uap)
