60'X150' is good enough space for a community library I think. The project you are on... I think in this scenario a library should not be something like any other typical institutional libraries. Here growing the interest to come to the library for the communities are also very important. In this regard.. the library building may also have some common urban space to hold small public gathering and a cafe in front it. So that people who don't come to read they may at least come to have an intellectual rendezvous there. The visual and spatial connection of the library to the public should remain open as much as it is possible (of course after taking care of the proper sonic control). At least seeing some people reading on the table everyday may trigger some people to come and read there. In deed, this library should be very inviting and welcoming... not very massive or rigid to look at. And the common things of library... natural lighting, sonic control, maintenance functionality those are no doubt always mandatory nothing to mention again. |

Hey man I'm a public of the 'virtual' world..! Have no plans or drawings of any physical library! I can help you giving a link of a very good digital library on architecture that is: http://www.archnet.org/library Go through this library (if you get time)... this is the biggest and the most quality library in this virtual world. |
